Article 62 — Criminal Liability

Article text
1/ Any person who illegally invades private, communal or state holdings shall be fined with payment of 30,000 to 100,000 Birr or punished with 1 to 5 years' rigorous imprisonment or both.
2/ Any person who causes damage to private, communal or state holding shall be fined with payment of 50,000 to 150,000 Birr or punished with 3 to 7 years rigorous imprisonment or both.
3/ Any person who constructs or permits any construction in an unauthorized place shall be fined with payment of 25,000 to 50,000 Birr or punished with 1 to 3 years imprisonment or both.
4/ Any person who uses his holding contrary to the land use plan shall be fined with payment of 20,000 to 50,000 Birr or punished with 1 to 3 years imprisonment or both.
5/ A landholder who submits a forged landholding certificate, a professional who hides evidence or gives false evidence shall be fined with payment of 10,000 to 25,000 Birr or punished with 1 to 3 years rigorous imprisonment or both.
6/ Anyone who sells or buys land shall be fined with payment of 100,000 to 200,000 Birr or punished with 1 to 5 years of rigorous imprisonment or both.
